Muriel Baker, founder of Galaxy Draperies and M. I. C (Mother-In-Charge)

Muriel was born in 1925 in the Bronx, New York. Her mother passed when she was 6 months old and she was then raised in an orphanage. She attended school through the 8th grade and then attended the school of hard knocks. On her own from an early age, she became a waitress at a New York Deli in the garment district in lower Manhattan. When you are a 16-year-old kid living on the tips you made, you quickly learned the value of great customer service. These lessons are the tenets of what she built Galaxy Draperies upon. Muriel was married for 27 years and raised one son in a modest neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. in 1976, she decided to follow her passion and founded Galaxy Draperies. Together with her son Rick, Muriel has built a successful business and has built several lasting relationships along the way.

Rick Baker, Sales Manager

Rick Baker is a 35 year veteran of the window coverings industry and together with his family run Galaxy Draperies.  Rick is nationally recognized as the leader of one of the highest quality major drapery businesses in North America.  Rick frequently lectures at industry conventions throughout the country.  In addition to his skills of overseeing their drapery workroom he is certified by both Hunter Douglas and Somfy automation as an expert in home automation.  Rick works with both interior designers and Galaxy Draperies’ own clients helping to create rooms they are all proud of.  In addition to his vast array of knowledge in the window covering arena he is certified as a color specialist by PPG Industries, a global leader in the paint and coatings industry.  Over the years, Rick has developed a unique approach in helping his clients create rooms they can be proud of for years and years.

Diane Baker, Promotions and Marketing

Diane in an integral part of Galaxy Draperies and has been helping clients beautify their homes for the past 20 years. She is committed to providing each of her clients a personal experience through the process of turning “a house” into “their home.” Diane masterfully manages an in-house staff of 10 along with maintaining relationships with dozens of decorators, suppliers and manufacturers in the Greater Los Angeles Area. Along with running the day to day operations of Galaxy Draperies, Diane is always looking for ways to improve the experience her clients receive. It is her solemn goal to make sure that every single person that does business with Galaxy Draperies is 100% satisfied with the quality of the product, the design experience and the final install. Diane has taken her relentless work ethic that she has developed over the years and applied it to raising her three children who she is even more dedicated to than her work.
