About Our Company

We help Los Angeles and Valley home and business owners create their ideal, beautiful spaces through custom indoor window coverings and exterior shade options. From cooling shade that allows more comfortable outdoor relaxation, to creating a dark bedroom so sleep comes more easily, or adding motorization so mobility issues aren’t a barrier to controlling a home’s privacy, our goal is to make homes just plain better for our clients.
Learn About Our History

Family-Owned & Operated

Founded by Muriel Baker in 1976, our company has been local to Los Angeles from its inception.

Now run by Muriel’s son Rick, with his wife Diane, and three children, David, Matt, and Jenna working alongside him, we have a true family owned and operated business.

The family doesn’t stop there!

We have multiple members of our staff who are also family. When our staff refers their own family members to join them at Galaxy, we feel confident that we have a workplace people love to be a part of.

Staff Benefits

We understand the value of a real work-life balance, which is why we offer a variety of excellent benefits to our employees. We aim to be flexible, understand people are human beings, and want to make sure you’re taken care of outside work as much as at work.

Some of our benefits include:

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Paid training
  • Technology (iPad, cell phone, etc.)
  • 401k with matching
  • Retirement
  • Mileage Reimbursements
  • Paid Training for Commission Roles
  • Employee Discounts
  • And more!

What We Believe In – Our Core Values

At Galaxy Draperies, we aim to improve the lives of every one of our customers with beautiful, personalized window treatments. And for our employees, we strive to create an equally positive experience working for our company.

We’re a longtime family-owned business, and we live in the communities we serve. We truly care about ensuring we have a positive reputation within the communities we’re a part of.

FAQs about applying to Galaxy Draperies

If the role allows for it, absolutely! Plenty of our local staff work from home often too.

You’d have a hard time installing window coverings in Los Angeles from North Carolina, but there’s no reason you couldn’t schedule appointments from there! Each job listing will include whether or not the job is remote.

We even have a few remote managers!

Great question. Did you know the average apply-to-hire timeframe is 40 days? We’re not like that.

You’ll have a total of maybe 3 conversations with us, depending on the position you’re going for. When we decide to hire, we want to move fast. For our sake and yours. We typically make our decisions and notify applicants in a matter of days. If it takes a week, we’re upset about that and will apologize to you.

Pure torture, of course. (KIDDING.)

Typically, you’ll speak to a member of our staff to get more information about you and general role-related information, like if you have reliable transportation for a job that requires it, and what days you can or can’t work. We’ll also have you take a personality test (read more about that below) before the next steps.

From there, have a video call with our Director of Human Resources, James (who we promise is very nice and doesn’t bite). If James thinks you’d be a great fit for Galaxy, you’ll speak to the manager of the department you applied to.

If we decide to move you forward, based on the role you’re applying for, you may also go on a ride-a-long with a member of our staff in that position to really get a feel for it.

Then we let you know our decision and hopefully welcome you to the team!

Yep, but don’t worry. We use it for good, not evil.

This isn’t one of those weird hiring quizzes that asks if you’d steal from your workplace that your prospective employer uses to weed out candidates. We use The Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment and with it, there’s no such thing as wrong answers.

Everyone at Galaxy has taken it, even our CEO Rick! We use it to learn more about what drives you. What motivates you. Are you the kind of person who loves working on a team, or do you prefer leading one? Do you like to get the basics of a task and then flying with it, or do you prefer to get all details and plan first? We learn things like that with the PI Index quiz. Managers even use it to understand how to better communicate with their staff by comparing their own results to the staff members. It’s designed to help improve communication and help everyone succeed.

We aim to onboard new staff quickly, so you won’t receive an offer that starts two months from now.

We have an in-house Training and Development Specialist, Rosalie, who will work closely with you. She’ll help you get in the door, get set up with all your accounts, and understand the basics of your role and our technology.

Onboarding itself is simple, but in-house training is designed to make sure you succeed. If you learn quickly, we’ll move you ahead quickly. If you need a little more time to learn, you’ve got it. For a Brand Ambassador role, you’ll be ready to roll within a week. For a Design Consultant role, you’re in training for a few months.
