We’re often asked if we provide plantation shutters and the answer is yes! However, it’s important to understand what plantation shutters actually are.
You see, the name “Plantation Shutters” came about when large Southern plantation manors added shutters to their windows to provide protection from the heat and sun. Both indoor and outdoor shutter options do help with insulation, after all! Technically, plantation shutters are not a unique shutter option, but style choices!
Typically plantation shutters are:
- White painted or stained if indoors, dark colored if exterior
- Have larger louvers (the slats)
- Have two or four panels so they open in the center
