Let’s explain the difference between a cornice and a valance!
- A fabric cornice uses a piece of hard wood or other stability material to create a shape (usually a rectangle) on the front and sides that is then covered in fabric for a coordinated and stylish look. They have a closed top, which can help also prevent any light leak or heat gain out the top of your other window treatments.
- A fabric valance is the softer version. The front top has a strip of wood or other stability material to create the general shape, but the rest is all flowing fabric. Valances add softness, flow, and beauty to windows. They can have folds in a variety of styles for a perfectly tailored look.
