Help Victims of the Los Angeles Fires
Tragedy has struck our community, with fires destroying thousands of homes and businesses, and displacing more than 180,000 of our friends and neighbors. We know our community stands strong together. We hope you are staying safe and taking care of yourself and your loved ones during these difficult times.
We know people would like to help but aren’t sure how. We put together some resources to help guide you.
Our Galaxy Family
As we live in the communities we serve, our staff has not been immune to the hardships and effects of the fires. We provided a method in which our affected staff could request assistance they need in an anonymous way – sometimes it’s hard to ask for help. If you’ve taken part in an Angel Tree, we’ve set this up similarly. Our Production Manager Jenna or Director of HR James, will be contacting those who choose to donate to help coordinate the delivery of your donation to help our staff stay anonymous.
If you’d like to help provide for our staff, you can see what our team has requested on our Giving Tree.
Charity donation + Galaxy match
At Galaxy Draperies, we’ve donated to _______, a charity ______. Additionally, if you’d like to donate to ______ as well, we’ll match your donation up to $_.
If you have an appointment with us, you can simply add that much to your total when you place your order.
If not, you can ______ to submit your donation so we can match it.
Other ways to help
Donate wisely to ensure your aid is helpful and reaches those who need it the most.
Monetary donations or donations directly to specific people or organizations are the most helpful.
Multiple shelters, donation organizations, and City Council members have requested that donated items not be dropped off at those locations, but instead at specific locations set up to receive and distribute them.
For a list of donation item drop-off locations or organizations seeking volunteers, please see this article.
- Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation
- Donations are being used for equipping firefighters with tools and supplies to combat the fires.
- California Community Foundation’s Wildlife Recovery
- Donations go toward the most impacted and most vulnerable Angelenos who are often overlooked in traditional relief efforts.
- Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
- During times like these, donations not only help provide food for those in need, but also personal hygiene items, diapers, cleaning products, and more.
- Pasadena Community Foundation
- The PSF has opened the Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund to aid those who need immediate and longer term support.
- Pasadena Humane Society
- PHS is working with multiple groups (see link for details) to aid any animals that have been separated from their families and providing shelter, medical attention, and more. They also are helping provide donations to pet owners who have been displaced by the fires.
- World Central Kitchen
- This organization’s relief team is in SoCal now providing comforting, quality meals to first responders and people who have been affected. They collaborate with local restaurants and food trucks to get meals to as many people as they can.
