While many homes have simple box-shaped rooms, sometimes there are ceiling drops, angles, or other factors that can throw you for a loop. Fortunately, when you work with professional designers and utilize their expertise, you can turn your challenging space into something charming and beautiful.
We had a wonderful experience working with 22 Interiors’ Lucie Ayres on a home in South Pasadena that presented a couple unique challenges.
Create a Modern Canopy from Beautiful Draperies
In this whimsical lavender girl’s room, the angled ceiling could have been awkward, but a lilac drapery created a charming and lovely additional touch. We adore the beautiful wallpaper and bird-cage style hanging chair as well!
Canopies over beds are incredibly popular, and this was a great solution to add a cozy, comfy feel to the room and the bed itself. Canopies themselves are modern day versions of the old four-poster beds with full fabric covering and drapes, so it’s wonderful to keep that luxurious feel without having to have the massive four-poster bed. Canopies can create luxurious, regal feelings and in adult bedrooms, a romantic feel is just a silky canopy away! If you have a beautiful headboard you love, a well-designed canopy can even function as a frame to complement and highlight your loved furniture.
We also create custom bedding and reupholster items to complement your style, so if you’ve got a mood in mind for a space, we’ve got a solution to make it a reality.
Creative, Custom Solutions for Awkward Spaces
In the Guest Bedroom of this California home, the peaceful and soothing feel could have been thrown off by the unusual ceiling drop right next to the window above the bed, but a custom rod and drapery allowed it, as Lucie put it, to become charming instead of awkward. Obviously no stock solutions would have worked in this space, and rather than narrowing the look by including zero overlap around the window, we were able to work with the space and give them a perfect solution.
We pride ourselves on creativity and elegant designs for every home. Being able to work with Lucie and think outside the box with draperies in this home was a great opportunity to use our experience and her design eye to create some unique and fantastic solutions. If you’re struggling to find a design solution for an unusual or awkward space, get in touch. We’ll help you create a look you love.
