Designing in a Home With Live Sharks

Designing in a Home With Live Sharks

When anyone thinks about their dream home, it’s going to be unique to them, and what any one person wants varies as much as our sense of style. In trying to lure in big buyers, developers get really creative. A luxury home development company here in Los Angeles included amazing things like 7 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a living wall, spa, gym, indoor pools – and a 300-gallon, two-foot-deep shark tank.

Yep, we said indoor shark tank.

This indoor tank contains eight sharks – three hound sharks, a cat shark, a horn shark, a remora shark, and a horn shark, along with stingrays, a starfish and yellow tang fish. Some of the sharks will be moved into an aquarium as they grow too large for the space. The idea, listing agent Sam Real of Nest Seekers International told Curbed.com, is that people can be “watching your fish or doing yoga or reading a newspaper” from the platform in the middle of the tank.

We had the honor of coming into this amazing, 12,800-square-foot custom build in Hollywood Hills that just hit the market at $35,000,000. We added a lot of automation for drapes, sheers and roman shades.

Matt Baker, our Sales Manager, really enjoyed being able to be a part of this.

“Seeing this custom build in its bare bones to what it’s become now is something special. Almost a sense of pride walking away knowing I played a small role in how this house turned out. “

Beautiful and luxurious additions

The home also contains amazing staircases with lots of natural light and views into the tank area. You also can see the tank from a cigar room with its own air filtration system. This mansion sports a wellness center, personal wine cellar and even a freezer specifically for tequila, which needs to be kept at a different temperature than wine.

Rooms with a View

Not to be outdone, the views from this home are just phenomenal – even from the bedrooms! Everywhere it was possible, the walls and our automated blinds, curtains and draperies slide open to patios and decks to give a full, unobstructed view.
