During our trip at IWCE, we walked around the show floor interviewing manufacturers and viewing creative displays of window coverings.
With a camera crew following us and the team ready to film, we discovered the following window treatment trends for 2016 as customization, colors, and rustic styles.
1. Customization
Each window in your home provides an opportunity to be creative.
Customize your windows to create an entirely different look for your rooms in 2016.
For example, your personal look can be achieved with decorative cornice boards, valances, layered designs, inverted pleat draperies, casual swags, cascades, and a variety of trims and accents. A multitude of options in fabric materials, textures, and colors is available. And, for the advanced smart home, motorization can now be controlled not just while you’re at home, but also remotely from a smartphone or tablet.
2. Color Matching
2016 is the year of the color. More colors than ever are available for blinds and shades. You can match color samples to features in your interior comprising your home decor – wall paint, bedspread, or rug for example.
The latest window treatment trends include enhancements with hardware in metallic finishes to suit all decorating styles from traditional to contemporary. Gold accessories are the trend for this year and fabrics featuring gold, silver or copper detailing can glamorize custom draperies.
Drapery teams up especially well with custom blinds and Roman shades, and the trend is to pick colors and textures that complement rather than compete with each other.
3. Rustic Style
Rustic styles utilize unconventional materials such as chamois or burlap and fabrics that create textured impressions.
The rustic look can be accomplished by rustic-looking shutters, wooden valances or cornice boards, woven shades, textured drapes, or fabrics with designs that focus on features found in nature.
Rustic design is a choice not just for mountain cabins but also for city dwellers who might desire a Bohemian style for a loft apartment. Another rustic trend is to place a tableau on the actual window which can create a textured effect or look like ironwork.
